First, we would like to thank you all for being so patient and understanding as we strive to reach our “New Normal” in the face of the current Covid-19 pandemic. We are doing what we can to help our clients, our patients and our staff, remain as safe as possible during these times.
In order to keep you up to date, we have sent 2 prior E-mails with information to try to answer some questions and concerns you may have, as well as to inform you of changes we’ve been making to our schedule. We have been following Canadian veterinary medical association (CVMA) guidelines as we adopt new Covid-19 protocols. Unfortunately, there was an issue with one of our E-mails not going out and we apologize to those clients that did not receive the last update on March 29th. Please check out our website, as we will keep a copy of all such communication there, as well as updates on our hours of operation, food and product ordering processes, and any other pertinent, up-to-date information.
In efforts to maintain a healthy team that is able to be here and provide care for your pets, we have divided into 2 groups that work different shifts. This means that we have a lot fewer people in the hospital running the day to day. We are striving to provide both 1) emergency care, and 2) maintenance care that cannot be delayed. We truly appreciate your patience as we do what we can during this time of uncertainty.
We are experiencing an extremely high volume of phone calls, and the nature of our current examination protocol requires several phone calls per visit. In order to alleviate the strain on our phone systems, we have done the following:
- We ask that if you are needing to order more food/treats/products or medication refills for your pet, please see our website at www.castlegarvet.com and use the “Order Food/Meds “ link to e-mail us your requests.
- Starting April 22nd, our office will be open on Wednesdays from 10am-4pm for product/food sales and scheduling appointments. There will not be a doctor in the hospital, but one will be available on emergency if necessary. Please phone the hospital in advance before heading up with your pet.
- We have some staff working from home and others who have graciously allowed use of their personal cellphones during this time. In order to protect their confidential contact information, calls made from them are blocked. In order to reduce delays, please be sure you phone will allow these calls to come through.
